Vintage - Friday Favorite Things

friday favorite things | finding joy

Linking up to Rachel's Friday Favorite Things

1. Vintage Pictures.  Using a free program called Poladroid to get this vintage look. Its like... a new addiction. I'm in love.

2. The Cosby Show. If you haven't seen it, you should. Because its so so so funny! Clean, Classic and Hilarious. Bill Cosby cracks me up! I normally watch them late at night, I'm surprised I haven't woken Megan up with my suppressed laughs! And, by the way, I'm coming along pretty well with my goal to watch all eight seasons. (I know thats like... lame, but hey. Its summer.) But seriously.

3. Raspberry Iced Mochas. Yum.

4. Sunrises. I only catch this about twice a week, when I have to get up at 5:30 to go to work. (yes. that happens.)

5. FINALLY getting my permit. Yes. I am 17 and I just got my permit. But hey, I don't have to do drivers ed and I only have to learn to drive, wait til I'm 18 and then I can drive by myself. so, ha!
6. Kung Fu Panda 2. Super excited for this.

.
Excuse me. Dreamworks. Which I'm not a huge fan of all their movies. But they have done a lot of good ones so I'll just say animation in general rules.

Premiere. Celebration. Random.

I am exhausted. In the past few days I've had so many things todo and so many places to be, it was just insane. But despite the late nights and running around, its been a complete BLAST. All the things I did were so exciting, so of course I have to share them with you all! So I thought I'd just combine everything into one post. Smart eh? So get ready for LOTS of pictures :) (I mean that. Seriously. I might take you 2 hours to get through them all.)

End of the Year Picnic

Oh this was SO FUN! Graduates got their diplomas, all us crazy people got to see each other one last time before we don't see each other for weeks and weeks and weeks. Past senior came to celebrate with us. Plus tons of Food and loads of laughter. It was a great little end of the year party.

Midnight Premiere

Have you ever been to a midnight premiere? If you I would suggest you do so. They are a BLAST! I mean, come on, going to see a movie at midnight, and in 3D?? How can you pass that up? Our friend Melissa invited us to go see Pirates of the Caribbean: On stranger tides Thursday night - er Friday morning? I mean, it was friday when we saw it.- It was way cool! I've been a fan of Pirates since the very first movie, which I still think was by far the best one. I mean, come on! It was awesome. The other 3 are good to, but the first one is just... cooler or something. Anyway. Love the movies, love the music, and Jack Sparrow rules. So, we went to the midnight premiere, in 3D. It was AWESOME! Totally worth the loss of sleep.

And I personally really like Penélope Cruz's character and surprisingly didn't miss Will and Elizabeth hardly at all.

***Check out my sisters blog for a fun video and pictures: Me. thats all I have to be.

Grad Party

One of my bestest friends, Krista, had her grad party this Sunday. It was at our second home - the coffee house- so of course I was there to help set up, make drinks, and pack up. It was really fun! Since I was unable to take pictures, Megan, became the photographer and took roughly 450 pictures. Did I hear a WOW? Yah, thats what I said too. So Thanks to her, I have pictures to share with you all! Of course, I won't steal all of her pictures, so again, head over to her blog for many more pictures: On playing photographer

After Krista's party was a fun movie watching party with some other friends. Anyone ever seen extreme days? If not you should. Its a hilarious movie. I mean HILARIOUS. After that we headed back to the coffee house to set everything back and didn't go to bed til like midnight. Yes. I am tired. See? Crazy past few days.

So there you have it! Possibly the longest post I've every posted in my life.

How was YOUR weekend??

PS. I'd like to quickly share something with you all that a blog friend asked me to share. Its a really cool thing and I'm just going to post what she send since she explained it so well.

"1 week of voting started today for the Chase Community Giving contest, round 2. One of the contenders will win $500,000! Christian Relief Fund has a very good chance if we help them. These guys help children in 3rd world countries by providing food, clean water, education, etc. If just 10,000 facebook users vote for them, they can win this grant! It will feed 1277 children for a year. So far we have around 870 votes, and the contest ends May 25th.  I still believe we can get 10,000 votes!  Or at least be ranked in the 25th position, and get a little money to help kids from starving.  I was wondering if you could vote... it takes less than 90 seconds.  2 days left... let's do this!"

Old Fashioned Farm

(Posted May 21 2011)

Our homeschool-group gets two thumbs up for having some of the coolest field trips. We've gone to the state capital, old indian mounds and all kinds of cool museums. (yes I am a museum person. LOVE them.) This past Monday, we took a trip to an Amish Farm. Now, I know that sounds really uninteresting, and your just thinking "Wow Marissa. A farm? Really?" But I was pretty cool. I mean, I like farms, and I've seen and visited many farms. But I have never been on an Amish Farm.

Amish Farms, happen to be as common as cows out here. As awkward as it sounds Amish people and they buggies are a main tourist attraction. That makes them sound like we keep them looked up in cages or something but, its true! Lots of people come to tour this part of Iowa for the Amish. Not because they are weird, or freaky, but because their lifestyle is so different from the everyday norm that we've all come to know. People come to see them "living the simple life" and to tell you the truth it really is fascinating when I sit and think about it.

Although, I will admit that often, me and my friends will make fun of people - tourist- who ask the question
"Where can we see some Amish?"
Because for us, seeing them IS normal. If an every day occurrence and its not weird or strange for us to see them. Its not as... exciting I guess, to see them, because we see them so often.
I put together this little video for all you city-folk who don't know what an Amish farm looks like, or who just, don't know what a farm looks like period.
Side-note: Don't expect to see the Amish family we visited, you can't take videos or pictures of them. So if you want to see them, it has to be in person.

Whats a fun field trip you've taken?

Chaotic Arranging

Since it's summer, Megan and I decided to rearrange our room. Oh my. I don't think we knew what we were getting in to! It was a long task and it took a lot more cleaning and muscle power that we had to get our brother to help us move some things. After hours and hour and hours of megan saying "I have noodle arms" and Melissa trying to cast cleaning spells, (yes, she was at our house. I told you she is over like every single friday) we finally got it moved and cleaned and I for one really, really LOVE it. Its much more open and feels bigger. So I put together this little video for your enjoyment. mwahaha.

And so, there you have it. Our great adventure of cleaning our room.

I shall know leave you with some tunes for your Tuesday. But, its almost Wednesday... so... just pretend like its still Tuesday. :)

The end. done. finished.

*Insert huge sigh and screams of excitement here*

SCHOOL IS DONE.
All day long after school the only thing me and my friends could think of was songs about school. Mainly that high-school musical one thats just really annoying yet really catchy.

I honestly can't believe that school is over! Its just SO weird! I've had to do the same things since late August. Tons of homework, crazy days, late nights, early mornings... and now, its all over. I can actually SLEEP and do stuff with out having to stress about the fact that I have a test to study for or a paper to write .

I cleaned off my desk. It looks so bare with out all the school stuff on it!
If I had to choose a class that I would miss the most, it would definitely be Lit. It was by far my favorite class this year. We read SO many great pieces of literature! Plus it was just a fun class in general and I learned a lot!

No more study days at the coffee house. No more reading homework with a latte. mmm. Slightly sad. But I'll get over it. :)

Since I've been one break: My friends and I had an insane party day after school and when to the mall shopping. It was SO fun not to be worrying about school because we didn't have any! What a great feeling!

I have also gathered a collection of movies from the library to watch.
I've rearranged our room with Megan. (Post about this to come it was quite the adventure.)
I have also decided that this summer I'm going to watch all eight seasons of the Cosby Show. haha. Just because I CAN. How classy.

Well. I'll leave you with this informative post. And be on the looking for the post of the rearranging! Oh it was SO FUN!

Have a great monday loves!
